To mark their 10th anniversary, the Spearhead Motorsport Initiative (SMI) has taken a unique step in giving back to the community by installing polyurethane flexible traffic poles at key intersections across Mokokchung town.

The project aims to improve road safety while promoting the club’s long-standing commitment to responsible driving and road awareness.

The flexible traffic poles, made from durable polyurethane, are designed to reduce the impact of collisions and protect drivers and pedestrians in the event of accidents. Unlike traditional metal barriers, these flexible alternatives can absorb the force of impact, minimizing damage to vehicles while reducing injury risks, informed Meren Tzudir, President of SMI.

“We wanted to do something impactful that would reflect our passion for motorsport but also benefit the community,” said Meren Tzudir. “These barriers are cutting-edge technology in traffic safety, and we’re proud to contribute to making our roads safer,” he added.

The installation was completed on October 4, with barriers placed at critical areas identified by the town’s traffic police department. The club hopes that their contribution will inspire other organizations to take proactive steps toward community safety.

With ten successful years under their belt, SMI has become a key part of the local community, hosting events, promoting safe driving, and now leaving a lasting mark with these new safety measures.

Meanwhile, it has been learned that the SMI will be organizing the sixth edition of its marquee event, Throttle Thrust, which is an annual motorsport event of the SMI, on November 1 and 2. It will be a special 10th anniversary edition, SMI sources said.
