The Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN) has issued a strong condemnation of the drone strike allegedly carried out by Indian security forces on October 20, 2025, targeting Khenmoi-Loiyi (Khammoi) village under the Eastern Konyak Region, referred to by the Union as “Myanmar-occupied Nagaland.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Union said the strike, “reportedly launched from Arunachal Pradesh in India-occupied Nagaland,” resulted in the deaths of two civilians identified as 27-year-old Khampei Wangsa, Joint Secretary of the Khammoi Students’ Union, and seven-year-old Eli Phiphot Wangsa, a student of Khammoi Mission School. It added that several others, including children, elderly people, and women, sustained serious injuries, while homes and community property were destroyed.
TUN described the incident as “a gross violation of human rights and international humanitarian law,” asserting that it reflects the “ongoing illegal occupation of Naga territories by India and Myanmar.” The Union said the tragedy “underscores the urgent need for global attention to the continued aggression against the Naga people living in their own ancestral land.”
Expressing condolences to the bereaved families and solidarity with the affected villagers, the Union said it “wishes the injured a speedy recovery and extend our solidarity to all affected Naga civilians in Khenmoi-Loiyi and surrounding areas.”
Appealing for international intervention, the Union called upon “competent global organisations, including the United Nations, UN Human Rights Council, and the International Criminal Court, to condemn this attack, undertake an independent investigation, and demand accountability from the occupying Indian forces.”
It further urged all Nagas “within occupied territories and the diaspora” to stand united in condemnation, humanitarian support, and solidarity with the victims and the wider community affected by the attack.
