General Secretary of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN), Th Muivah, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Dr Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India. In a condolence message, Muivah praised Dr Singh’s leadership, vision, and role in advancing the Indo-Naga peace talks.
“Dr. Manmohan Singh was a leader of great vision and integrity,” Muivah stated, highlighting the former prime minister’s genuine commitment to resolving the Naga issue. He noted that under Singh’s leadership, a team from the Indian Council of Ministers was tasked with engaging the NSCN leadership, reflecting his genuine commitment to resolving the Naga issue.
Muivah recalled a significant meeting with Dr Singh in 2010, when he led an NSCN delegation to discuss the complexities of the Naga political issue. “Aware of the complexities of the Naga political issue, he thoughtfully remarked, ‘The Naga political issue can be solved outside the box,’ showcasing his profound understanding and willingness to explore innovative solutions,” Muivah recounted.
Acknowledging Dr Singh’s efforts, Muivah remarked that the Naga people have lost an important Indian leader “who not only comprehended our history but was also sincere in addressing our rights.”
Extending his heartfelt condolences to Dr. Singh’s family and the people of India, Muivah prayed for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
