‘The Forgotten Nagas ‘POCHURY NAGA’ – Churhotho Joshur (crkjoshuo88974@gmail.com) & Thsüzüsie Nyusou (nyusoukhraratho@gmail.com)
Pochury as one of the youngest Naga tribe which has been in existence since April 19, 1990 has been facing discrimination in various fields from the past decades till-up-to-date, be it social, economic or political.
Let me pen down some few lines for general understanding. Since it’s inception as a young Naga tribe, we faced major challenges due to the remoteness and low literacy rate, yet the government paid no attention nor addressed the issue. With just 2% reservation for a major Naga tribe which is a clear indication of injustice and on the contrary even the least which is provided to us is snatched away from us illegally.
Let me cite a short example here; Jack, John and James comes home hungry and their mother serves food only to Jack and John; leaves out James. Wouldn’t that be a step-motherly treatment? While the rest of the Backward Naga tribes are moving ahead to prosperity with their due shares, we are left out in the open minefields at the mercy of those in power.
It’s humorous to know that the reserved quota for Pochury has laid its egg in the recently declared CTSE, exam held by NPSC.
We want to question the competent authorities what is the main cause(irony) and who impregnated our quota reservation? How long will this open injustice continue? Is it because we are not eligible? If so; we want to bring to the knowledge of the authority that we had a good number of CTSE aspirants. This is an open mockery to our people and we will not tolerate this. Enough is enough and we appeal to the concern authorities to look into this matter at the earliest.
As we witness another “Blackday’’ we want to call upon every right thinking Nagas, intellectuals and bureaucrats to stand with us against the injustice meted out to us.
