The log drum of Longjang Village was carved and dragged in the year 1979. It is 28.7 ft long and was dragged from a forest approximately 4km away from the village settlement with the participation of all abled men in one single day. It is said that the villagers had to cross a cliff while dragging the log drum, a feat that is seemingly impossible to achieve even in the present day with modern equipment.
Legend has it that the old log drum used to “talk and sing unusually” for which the villagers cut its tongue shorter. Following this, the log drum “refused to produce sound anymore.” Thus, the villagers replaced the log drum with the present one.
