The Nagaland Taekwondo team has brought laurels to the state and the country by securing three gold medals at the prestigious Seongnam Open International Taekwondo Championships held in South Korea from July 18 to 20, 2025.
Led by Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of Youth Resources and Sports, and accompanied by Pele Khezhie, President of the Nagaland Taekwondo Association, Theja Keretsu, Team Manager, and Visabiu Peseyie, Coach, the team delivered an exceptional performance in a highly competitive event that saw participation from 21 countries.
The gold medal winners from Nagaland are as follows: P. Athongti – Gold in Under 49 kg category; Sentimoa Ozukum – Gold in Under 55 kg category, and Vilabizo Nagi – Gold in Under 68 kg category.
The team expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Nagaland under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports under Advisor S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, for the opportunity and support extended to the Nagaland Taekwondo Association and the sporting fraternity as a whole.
The delegation will also be meeting with sports leaders and representatives from World Taekwondo to explore avenues for future collaboration and development of the sport in the state.
