Sound Core organized an acoustic beat contest on September 6 in Kiphire, featuring four local bands, where The Whispering Strings Band emerged as the winner and Mighty Thorne took the runners-up spot.


Individual musicians were recognized for their performances: Khumchoba from Mighty Thorne was awarded Best Lead Guitarist, Lethekhing from The Whispering Strings was named Best Vocalist, Acho Thonger from Euphonic Band received the Best Bassist award, and Tsioba from The Whispering Strings was honored as the Best Drummer.

The competition was hosted by Atsungba Sangtam. The event began with a welcome address from Tsilikyu, Director of Sound Core Band. Tsilikyu expressed gratitude to the sponsors, including R Pilise Sangtam, Entrepreneur and Proprietor of Glass Hardware, Kiphire, who sponsored the 1st Prize; S Yusumong Sangtam, CDPO, Kiphire, who sponsored the 2nd Prize; and Akhase Jingrü, who sponsored the 3rd Prize. Tsilikyu also acknowledged the support of the District Administration, DEF Kiphire, and all individuals who contributed to the event’s success.

The prize amounts were ¹ 50,000 for the 1st Prize and ¹ 30,000 for the 2nd Prize. The competition celebrated local music and provided a platform for emerging talent in Kiphire.
