The Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK), has reported repeated thefts on its premises — the most serious involving copper wires essential for operating its CT scan machine.
According to a public notice issued by Dr M. Margaret Yhome, Managing Director of NHAK, the thefts have “occurred twice recently” and involve “copper wires connecting the grounding system to the CT Scan machine.” The consequence: a significant delay in the commissioning of the hospital’s CT scan service — a facility long-awaited by the public in a region with limited access to advanced diagnostic tools.
The hospital authority termed these incidents as “not only a serious nuisance but also disrupt essential public health service delivery.” An FIR has been lodged at the South Police Station, Kohima, on April 19, 2025 (Receipt PT-IV No. 371/25), but no arrests have been reported so far.
These are not isolated incidents. The notice notes “multiple incidents of theft involving properties belonging to the Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima, in and around the hospital premises,” raising concerns about broader gaps in hospital security and governance.
The management has now issued a public appeal, urging citizens to come forward with any information that could help identify the culprits. “Your cooperation is also solicited to prevent such incidents in the future and to safeguard critical healthcare infrastructure,” the statement said.
