A three-day awareness programme on Cybersecurity and Emerging AI Tools, along with Hands-on Training in Digital Productivity Tools, commenced at Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu, on September 10, 2025. The programme is organized by NEILIT in collaboration with MCTE. The resource persons for the programme are Imlirenla Longkumer, Tabennaro Longkumer, and Imlimoa.

In her welcome address, Dr. T. Alemla Longkumer, Principal of MCTE, underscored the growing importance of digital literacy and its relevance in the present educational and social context.

During her session, Imlirenla Longkumer highlighted various forms of cyber threats and malware attacks, stressing the need for vigilance against online risks. She shared practical measures such as preventing hacking attempts, avoiding scams, ensuring cyber hygiene, and using antivirus tools, while demonstrating methods for tracking lost devices. She also introduced participants to “Emerging Tools on Generative AI,” describing AI as technology that mimics human behavior for automation, productivity, and innovation. Stressing responsible use, she outlined the dos and don’ts of AI, including safeguarding personal data, fact-checking outputs, and framing precise prompts for better results.

Tabennaro Longkumer and Imlimoa conducted hands-on training in digital productivity tools, engaging participants in practical exercises to enhance efficiency in educational tasks. Sessions on the second and third days will cover working with tables, templates, and styles for lesson planning and attendance, as well as data analysis and reporting for tracking students’ progress.

The three-day programme aims to equip both students and faculty with essential knowledge and skills to engage with the digital world safely, responsibly, and productively.
