State Chief Minister and NPF President Dr Neiphiu Rio on Monday said the party is entering a “golden period” following the formalisation of the NDPP–NPF merger, calling on members to strengthen unity and recommit themselves to public service.

Addressing a party program for the Town Council Bye-Elections 2026, Rio said his return to the NPF was a return to his “political home,” describing the party as a long-standing custodian of Naga rights and identity.

He urged party workers to place public interest above individual considerations and to strictly adhere to the party’s Constitution, saying discipline and unity were essential for strengthening the organisation.

“This is a time for renewal,” Rio said, asking leaders to familiarise themselves with the party’s aims and objectives and work collectively for the Naga cause.

NPF MLA and Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon said the merger process has been completed in all formal respects, following communication from the Election Commission of India.

Three candidates for the ULB bye-elections — Neichüu Kuotsu (Chümoukedima Ward No 11), Shikavi Kiba (Atoizu Ward No 9), and Ar Aling Lotha (Wokha Ward No. 8), were administered the oath during the program held on the occasion.
