Mokokchung, March 12 (MTNews): The stretch of 1780 meters main road at Artang ward leading till IMDH Civil Hospital from Sewak side is currently under repair by the residents of the ward.
Talking to Mokokchung Times, an Executive Member of Artang ward authority and the person in charge of the project, Bendangwati,said that the road has not been maintained by the Government since 2014 and that it was considered by many as the worst road in Mokokchung town. Speaking on the objective of the project, he said that it was for the safe passage of patients going to the hospital as well as for the benefit and convenience of everyone.
He also encouraged the other wards of Mokokchung town having similar deplorable road conditions to follow them and asserted that, for a better town, “we must put 90% hard labor and expect 10% from government.”
The project has so far accumulated Rs.70,000 through donations from well-wishers and 90 vehicle owners of the locality.
While stating that support from government authorities are welcome, he said that the residents were ready to complete the project with or without the assistance of the government.
