Mokokchung, January 18 (MTNews): In an interesting political development, the Advisor of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), TN Mannen has tendered his resignation from the party and has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

NDPP Advisor TN Mannen after resigning from the party has joined the BJP. Seen here is TN Mannen with BJP Mokokchung officials.

In his resignation letter dated 17 January 2023 addressed to the president NDPP Mokokchung Region, Mannen stated that the ruling NDPP suffers from lack of transparency and consistency in management of party affairs mainly due to arbitrary handling of the party matters by a few. He further added that no serious attempts are being made to streamline the contradictory directives and instructions given, creating uncertainty and confusion down the line up to the constituency level.

“The cohesive feeling of oneness and a sense of belonging for the party among the workers are missing in this critical time of facing the forthcoming General Assembly Election,” he reasoned. His resignation from NDPP as its advisor is not only a blow to the party but will also have repercussions on 23 Impur Assembly Constituency, his home constituency.

His resignation letter further stated that a meeting was conducted on the 17 of January at the residence of the party’s treasurer in Kubolong that was attended by party office bearers, executive members and all unit representatives where they thoroughly discussed the political scenario in the state including party matters.

The letter also added that the Kubolong meeting concluded with “the decision to resign from the NDPP party forthright” and authorized TN Mannen to decide whichever political party to join and seek ticket for the coming General Assembly Election. Further, Mannen also stated in the letter that, on the strength of this authorization, “it was decided to join BJP with all my supporters, as it was the overwhelming wishes of the constituency people for socio-economic development of the area and for creating employment opportunities.”

The letter concluded with his gratitude to fellow leaders and party workers who had supported him during his period of association with the party during the formative stage.

Subsequently, after his resignation from NDPP, TN Mannen enrolled his membership to the BJP here in Mokokchung in the presence of Imolemba Jamir, president BJP Mokokchung District.
