The first day of the celebration featured a night carnival with approximately 100 stalls set up by various Self Help Groups, Government Departments, and local entrepreneurs. Ezung wished the community prosperity and urged the Lotha community to prevail in the sense of forgiveness among one another, as Tokhu Emong represents forgiveness, love, and strengthening relationships.

Various indigenous games, folk dances, folk songs, and modern Lotha songs will be performed during the four-day festival.
MLA Imkong L. Imchen will grace the final day, November 7, 2022, at Local Ground Wokha.

Tokhü Emong Bird Count Festival begins today

The Tokhü Emong Bird Count (TEBC) is Nagaland’s first bird documentation event dedicated to celebrating the state’s birds. The four-day TEBC began on Friday and is arguably the season for most stopovers for Amur falcons travelling from East Asia to southern Africa.

The Wokha Forest Division and the Divisional Management Unit, Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), Wokha, Nagaland, and Bird Count India are collaborating on this event.
The TEBC exercise entails watching and counting birds for at least 15 minutes on any or all days from November 4-7 from anywhere in Nagaland and uploading the avian names to eBird (www.ebird.org/india), the bird recording platform.

The TEBC is part of the Salim Ali Bird Count, a nationwide event organized by the Bombay Natural History Society.
