Nagaland Minister of Housing and Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum called on the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday in New Delhi. Ozukum was accompanied by T. Yangseo Sangtam, Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
When asked what the meeting was about, Ozukum told Mokokchung Times that he was appealing to the Union Minister of Housing for three more Demonstration Housing Projects for Nagaland state.
“Each State is allotted only one Demonstration Housing Project (DHP). But we are asking for Aspirational District Kiphire, Mokokchung and Noklak,” Ozukum disclosed. He added that he was not able to give a definite reply at the moment on the outcome of the meeting “since our request is outside the guidelines,” but he stated that the Union Minister assured to look into the matter in two months’ time.
He also informed that Nagaland has already got one DHP already, the construction of which is underway in Sematila, Dimapur. It was inaugurated on June 25 last by the Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
