The present flood situation in Dimapur is nothing short of a humanitarian disaster and a damning reflection of the utter failure of the Government of Nagaland and the concerned Municipal bodies. Roads have turned into rivers, and citizens are literally swimming through what should have been properly drained streets.
This is not a natural calamity – this is a man-made disaster, the result of chronic neglect, poor urban planning, and years of unchecked corruption in municipal governance. The drainages are completely choked, there is no de-silting, and emergency response is missing.
Where is the Government? Where are the authorities responsible for public welfare? Why has no proactive flood management plan been implemented despite recurring floods every monsoon?
Instead of delivering on their basic responsibilities, the ruling NDPP-BJP alliance is busy silencing dissent, managing headlines, and celebrating cosmetic development. The reality on the ground is evident: Dimapur is drowning, and the people are abandoned.
We demand the following immediate actions:
1. A high-level inquiry into the failure of drainage and flood preparedness.
2. Immediate deployment of NDRF/State Disaster Response Forces to rescue affected residents.
3. Urgent compensation and relief for those whose homes, shops, and livelihoods are impacted.
4. Special funds from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to reconstruct damaged public infrastructure.
5. An urban flood audit of Dimapur to identify all faulty zones and hold accountable those responsible.
The people of Dimapur deserve dignity, safety, and a Government that works for them. This is not the time for silence. I stand with the suffering citizens and demand accountability from those in power.
DARO MAT – LADDO! Speak up before it’s too late.
