Mokokchung, January 14 (MTNews): Advisor for Tourism, Art and Culture, H Khehovi Yeputhomi virtually inaugurated six Tourism tribal circuits and one Pilgrimage Centre in five districts of Nagaland funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India last evening and handed over the projects to the respective districts.

 

 

The projects include Pilgrimage Facilitation Centre Aizotu, Zunheboto under Prasad scheme amounting to Rs 650.84 lakh. The others are under Swadesh Darshan schemes including Dikhu Eco Resort, Tribal Circuit in New Peren, Tizit Eco Resort in Mon, Ungma Tribal Hub, Suteplenden Eco Resort in Mokokchung and Doyang Eco Resort, Wokha amounting to Rs 11337.44 lakh.

 

Speaking in the inaugural program, the Advisor said the inaugurated assets will cater to the needs of the tourists and promote tourism as a catalyst for economic growth and create more employment opportunities in the state.

 

He said the created assets will not only provide basic facilities to the tourists but will also act as a center to promote local art, handicraft, culture and cuisine. Yeputhomi asserted that this will generate livelihoods and create awareness among the local communities about the importance of tourism in terms of increased sources of income and improved living standards.

 

He added that, to develop professionalism and modernism with a focus on in-depth infrastructure development, the state Government is concentrating on a capacity building program for creating employment in the hospitality industry to meet the growing demand in the sector.
