Mokokchung, 16 August (MTNews): The evening of Independence Day in Mokokchung Town was marred by a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded in the Sungkomen Ward. Yangerlong, a teenager and resident of Sungkomen Ward, lost his life in a tragic accident. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation, creating a climate of uncertainty regarding whether the incident involved a car, a bike, or both.
Eyewitness accounts have presented conflicting details, leaving investigators puzzled about the sequence of events. Some accounts suggest that the victim was struck by a bike initially, followed by being run over by a car. These varying narratives have contributed to the complexity of the ongoing investigation.
According to police sources, the driver of the car involved in the incident voluntarily surrendered to the authorities. He admitted to running over the teenager and rushed both the victim and the bike rider to the hospital.
However, crucial details remain uncertain, as it’s yet to be established whether the teen’s unfortunate demise resulted from being run over by the car or the prior encounter with the bike.
The Mokokchung Police, responsible for handling the case, have chosen to maintain confidentiality about the specifics of the ongoing investigation.
Yangerlong’s family have on Wednesday laid him to rest today in his native village, Longmisa.
