Mokokchung, 18 December (MTNews): In a heart wrenching incident today, four lives were lost, shaking the community of Nagaland, as a devastating road mishap happened in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district. The victims, comprising three women and one man, were residents of Nagaland.
According to SDPO Bokajan, Assam, the accident took place at about 5 o’clock in the morning. A Nagaland-bound gypsy, carrying seven occupants, collided with another vehicle, resulting in the tragic demise of three women and the male driver. The three injured individuals were urgently transported to Dimapur and are currently receiving medical attention.
SDPO Bokajan highlighted that, while official confirmation is pending, a preliminary examination indicated the absence of a speed breaker, suggesting that over speeding might be a contributing factor to the accident.
The deceased victims have been identified as N Langfang Konyak (35 years), Niangmei B Konyak (33 years), Niamson (23 years), and Nyapa (27 years), all belonging to Mon district in Nagaland. Reports suggest that the fatal collision occurred when the two vehicles collided head-on along National Highway-39.
Apart from the tragic loss of lives, four other individuals sustained severe injuries in the accident. The injured have been identified as Kaiyang (20), Anglong (11), and Taibey (29), all residents of Mon district. Additionally, Ratul Basumatary, the driver of one of the SUVs and a resident of Gorchuk in Guwahati, also suffered injuries in the collision.
