The primary focus of the training is to equip personnel holding crucial administrative positions and those likely to be involved in incident and emergency management. The Incident Response System (IRS) aims to address the common issue of coordination among different agencies during disaster response, which can often result in increased costs and delayed actions. By pre-designating officers for specific roles and providing them with appropriate training, the IRS endeavors to streamline and optimize disaster response operations. The training is being led by Shekher Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor, Division of Disaster Response & Recovery, NIDM, Delhi.

The IRS is a comprehensive management system applicable to any type of incident, regardless of its nature, scale, or magnitude. By organizing various functions, tasks, and staff within the response process, the IRS emphasizes improved coordination and communication among the different organizations involved. This systematic approach aims to transform confusion during the early stages of an emergency into a well-coordinated and structured response process, providing solutions to critical questions.

The inaugural program was attended by Abhijit Sinha, IAS, Principal Secretary (Home), who delivered the inaugural address. The brief program was chaired by Johnny Ruangmei, Joint CEO, NSDMA. The vote of thanks was given by Khrolou Koza Lohe, Assistant Manager (Training & Education), NSDMA.
