Kohima, March 5 (MTNews): State Level Coordinating Agency (Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland), Kripa Foundation in collaboration with NCC, NSS, and RRC of Model Christian College conducted ‘Training of Peer Educators on Substance Abuse Prevention’ programme on 5th of March 2022, through Zoom cloud meeting. Bendang Imsong, the coordinator of SLCA, Kripa Foundation, was the resource person.

 

Imsong, in his presentation brought to light the most commonly used drugs, after which he highlighted the different stages of addiction and in which the first stage is experimental. He called addiction ‘a process of a cycle’, wherein, as the addiction level progresses the brain is stimulated and programmed to always lead the person back. He also added that addiction comes with multiple issues which often lead to great damages and even criminal issues. Imsong then laid out the different treatment options for addicts which he listed as: Detoxification, counselling, and rehabilitation. In conclusion, he encouraged the participants to be vigilant and do personal research so that the right information is spread and help is offered to such addicts.

 

Altogether, 200 people, including six coordinators of different clubs and cells of the College participated in the programme.
