A one-day training programme on natural farming under the National Mission on Natural Farming was held on March 5 at Chiechama village in Kohima District.

A total of 100 farmers participated in the training, which was conducted in two sessions with 50 farmers in each session.

In the keynote address, Mhasikhotuo Mere, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Chiephobozou, Department of Agriculture, encouraged farmers to adopt natural farming practices for sustainable agriculture. He also advised farmers to cultivate climate resilient crops such as Job’s tear and foxtail millet, which are drought tolerant and can fetch good prices in local markets.

Agriculture officers along with Krishi Sakhis (CRPs) under SDAO Chiephobozou conducted training on various topics under the National Mission on Natural Farming for 2025–26 with the objective of promoting sustainable agriculture through the use of bio-inputs.

The session included demonstrations on the use of light traps and natural materials for pest management. Farmers were also trained on sowing techniques, compost preparation, clean cultivation methods, soil health management and women empowerment through agricultural entrepreneurship.
