Kohima, 8 August (MTNews): Nagaland’s Transport Commissioner, Elias T Lotha, inaugurated a Vehicular Emission Awareness Drive at the Transport Commissionerate premises in Kohima on 8 August 2023.
In his address to the gathering, the Commissioner highlighted the significant role of motor vehicles as the primary source of air pollution in Nagaland. He emphasized the importance of changing mindsets and taking proactive steps to achieve positive outcomes. The Commissioner underscored that collective efforts from citizens, policymakers, and vehicle manufacturers are crucial in effectively reducing vehicular pollution.
He expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Pollution Control Board for funding the initiative, recognizing that raising awareness about impending dangers is essential for protection. He characterized the campaign as a form of civic education designed to awaken society to the realities of pollution and the potential benefits that come with its reduction.
The event commenced with an invocation by Ikuto Sumi, followed by an introductory address delivered by Mulusato Shijob, a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI). The program was chaired by Purnungsang, Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO).
