Tsarü Village celebrated the Tsang-Rii Mübü Thüpcheh on August 14 at the Tsarü Village Community Hall, with Metsübo Jamir, Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Government of Nagaland, as the Special Guest, and Sethrongkyü Sangtam, Advisor for Information & Technology, Economics & Statistics, and Evaluation, Government of Nagaland, as the Guest of Honour.
Metsubo Jamir, in his address on this special occasion, extended his greetings to all. He shared that his father, N.I. Jamir’s favourite village after his native village, Longsa, was Chare Village.

“Coming here today to attend this pre-harvest festival of your village is the outcome of a relationship built between my father’s generation and your fathers’ generation. It is like harvesting the fruits of that long-standing bond,” he said, adding that he gives praise to God on this special occasion not only for Longsa Village but also for Chare Village.
Jamir recalled that his father was so close to the people of Chare Village that he became like one of its own. “During my father’s time, the trust and relationship built between our villages has led us today to celebrate together as Longsa and Chare,” he said.
Speaking on current issues, Jamir remarked, “The most talked-about topic today is the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT). When we speak of FNT, we must remember that during India’s independence and the subsequent formation of Nagaland, our Naga people were scattered across Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, and beyond. FNT is not like Indian independence nor like the granting of Nagaland statehood. It is not about separation — it is about understanding and working together.”
He added that many misunderstand FNT, thinking it will create a separate Nagaland, a separate FNT, or a separate Eastern region. “We are not like that,” he said. “Whether FNT comes or not, we will remain together as Nagaland. Just like in an examination, separation only teaches us to value, love, and understand each other more, as well as to share our responsibilities and burdens. So I encourage you — be good, be courageous, and never forget your parents who have helped you. Let our love for each other remain strong, and let us never leave one another. Let us remember how far we have come.”
Jamir also made several announcements for the development of Chare Village. For the youth, he promised the establishment of a Panchayat Learning Centre. For the womenfolk, he announced a piggery farming project worth Rs 50 lakhs. He also assured that approach roads in and around the village will be constructed by him and hinted that Advisor Sethrongkyü Sangtam would look into the main road. Furthermore, he informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the road from Meyilong to Chare might be getting ready, and he hopes the work will commence soon.
He concluded his speech by urging everyone to “know each other better, strengthen our bonds, and keep our unity strong.”
Short speeches were delivered by the Guest of Honour, Advisor Sethrongkyü Sangtam; L. Nungshi, Head GB; and Zerutso Kesiezie, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Chare, Tuensang District, Nagaland.
The welcome address was delivered by I. Mendang Sangtam, Council Chairman of Tsarü Village. The celebration featured a range of cultural presentations by various groups, and the significance of Tsang-Rii Mübü Yukhe was presented by Changse Head Barrick.
