The Nagaland Education Project, under the Department of School Education, convened a consultative meeting on January 24, 2025, to discuss the upcoming Lighthouse School Complex construction in Tseminyu. The meeting was held at the DC office conference hall in Tseminyu, with the members of the Tseminyu District Committee for the Lighthouse School under the NECTAR project in attendance.

Rohit Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tseminyu, expressed his gratitude towards the committee for their detailed explanation and emphasized the urgency of initiating the project. “We are fully committed to providing all the support necessary for the timely completion of this project,” said DC Singh.

He also informed that there had been no objections regarding the land for the construction and assured that the district administration would continue to assist throughout the project’s implementation.

Avelu Ruho, Deputy Project Director, shared details about the structure of the school complex and highlighted the importance of the site for educational activities. “Many children in rural areas begin their education in government schools. This school complex will greatly benefit the community,” Ruho stated. The construction is expected to be completed within the next 18 months, she added.

Ransom Lungleng, Social Associate for the project, elaborated on the funding for the complex, which is provided by the World Bank. He discussed key considerations such as environmental impact, social risks, and the preservation of cultural heritage. Lungleng also urged the community to remain vigilant about water issues and health and safety concerns during the construction.

The meeting was attended by various district heads and representatives from civil society organizations.
