The Tseminyu District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on 18th October 2025 took a major step to promote pig farming by initiating plans to develop the district as a Piggery District.
During the monthly meeting at the DC’s conference hall, Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch presented a detailed PowerPoint outlining strategies to strengthen piggery activities and boost farmers’ incomes.
After thorough deliberations, the board decided to constitute a committee to frame action plans and provide training to farmers for the successful implementation of the program. The committee will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner, with allied departments as members. The Department of District Industries & Commerce (DIC), Tseminyu, will present its activities related to piggery development in the next meeting.
Ar. Jwenga Seb, MLA and Chairman of the DPDB, welcomed the initiative and appreciated the efforts of officials and board members in promoting sustainable livelihoods. The program is expected to provide technical guidance, skill development, and practical training to local farmers, helping them expand pig farming as a profitable venture.
