The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Kohima Rural Division inaugurated a Plastic Waste Management Unit at Chunlikha Village, Tseminyu, on Thursday. The brief inaugural program was attended by representatives from 13 villages under Chunlikha Block, including WATSAN committee members, village council representatives, and GBs.

The unit was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tseminyu, Kikumsangla Jamir (NCS), who highlighted the urgent need for environmental responsibility. “The environment is facing severe destruction, and one must act now to protect it for future generations,” she stated.
Jamir also urged village councils, WATSAN committees, GBs, and other stakeholders to actively participate in waste reduction efforts by adopting sustainable behavioral changes. She further encouraged village leaders to take ownership of government assets installed in their villages and across the block to ensure their proper maintenance and longevity.
The program was chaired by District Coordinator (PHED), Ashale Magh.
