The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) has submitted a representation to the Director of Urban Development, Kohima, urging immediate restoration of the circular road within Tseminyu district headquarters. The RSZ highlighted the deteriorating condition of the road, which has been causing severe hardships for residents, students, and daily commuters.

In its appeal, the RSZ emphasized that ”despite its status as a district headquarter, the condition of the circular road within Tseminyu remains deplorable, causing immense inconvenience to the residents, students, and daily commuters.” The organization expressed concern over excessive dust pollution, which has led to serious health risks. ”Students, particularly those in school uniforms, as well as office-goers and other commuters, face daily hardships due to the dusty environment,” the RSZ stated. It also warned that prolonged exposure could lead to ”respiratory illnesses and other long-term health complications, affecting the well-being of the general public.”
The RSZ further cautioned that without ”proper drainage and blacktopping before the onset of the monsoon, the situation will only deteriorate.” The absence of a well-maintained road, it noted, would ”render vehicular movement nearly impossible during the rainy season, leading to increased hardship for the public.” The organization also pointed out that ”essential services, including medical emergencies and transportation of goods, will also be severely hampered.”
Given the urgency of the matter, the RSZ appealed for ”immediate intervention in facilitating the restoration of the critical circular road within Tseminyu district headquarters.” It asserted that ”the safety, comfort, and well-being of the residents cannot be compromised any longer” and urged authorities to prioritize the issue before the monsoon to ”ensure a healthier and safer environment for all.”
The RSZ’s representation underscores growing concerns over infrastructure development in the newly recognized district, which was officially declared Nagaland’s 13th district on December 18, 2021, and formally inaugurated on February 24, 2022.
