The Thenyizumi Students’ Union Kohima (TSUK) held its 31st General Session and Freshers’ Social 2026 at Baptist High Auditorium, Mission Compound, Kohima, with Kenesa Dawhuo, Commandant of the 10th NAP (IR) Battalion, Zhadima, as the guest speaker.
Addressing the gathering, Dawhuo congratulated the freshers and encouraged them to view the new phase of their lives as an opportunity to take on greater responsibilities. He stressed the importance of self-awareness, regular self-assessment, mental strength and a positive attitude in dealing with challenges.
He reminded the students that academics should remain their primary responsibility and urged them to use their time, talents and opportunities wisely. He also encouraged discipline, patience and restraint, saying the habits developed during student life could benefit them in the long term.
Dawhuo highlighted the importance of physical, mental and spiritual well-being, as well as financial literacy and responsible financial habits. Speaking on technology and artificial intelligence, he advised students to use digital tools judiciously, particularly for education, while maintaining independent and logical thinking.
VCC of Thenyizumi Village, Zhothiyi Dawhuo, called upon the younger generation to uphold humility and excellence while respecting elders, teachers, parents and leaders.
TSUK president Er. Vede Dawhuo also encouraged students to remain disciplined, truthful and focused on their goals while making constructive use of technology.
During the achievers’ talk, Kepozo Kapuh urged students to recognise opportunities around them and not fear mistakes or failure.
The programme also featured the presentation of the education and statistical report, a speech by freshers and cultural performances.
A new team of TSUK office bearers for 2026-27 was installed, with Sevosalu Resu as president, Vedecuyi Rokha as vice president, Vevosu Thisa as general secretary and Kevedu Rhakho as assistant general secretary.
