The Soyim Students’ Union (SSU) of Ungma Village, Mokokchung, came together in high spirits to celebrate the Tsüngremmung festival at Yimtsüngta Arok Sapang, Ungma Village on Tuesday. The festival, themed “Terajem Nükmen,” which translates as holistic foundation, witnessed a joyous gathering of participants, with the presence of Imkong L Imchen, Advisor for Information & Public Relations, Soil & Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland, as the chief guest.
During his address, Imchen highlighted the historical importance of Ungma Village, describing it as the premier and historic village of the Ao Nagas. He expressed his appreciation for and respect towards the village’s profound philosophy.
The chief guest emphasized that while culture and tradition evolve and adapt with time, their essence and core values remain unchanged. Imchen urged the community to preserve their cultural identity through songs and dances, stating that culture is not only a source of pride but also a crucial aspect of their heritage.
Moatemsu Longkumer, President of SSU delivered the welcome address while Rarentemjen Jamir, Tatar, explained the significance of Tsüngremmung.
The festivities were further elevated by various captivating cultural performances, which were presented by renowned groups, including the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference, SSU Kongshir, Kosasanger Pusu Menden Ungma, and Soyim Shisaluyimer Telongjem.
