Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival 2024 under the theme “Shensinge” (In Cognizant of Distinct Attributes) is being celebrated at Parade Ground Tuensang Town from 11 – 13 January 2024. The Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang graced the Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival as the chief guest.
Speaking at the festival, Zeliang conveyed Poanglüm greetings to all the Chang community. He stated that Poanglüm is one of the biggest festivals of the Chang Nagas and pulling of log drum is a sign of unity among Changs. The Chief Guest added that being a Naga, everyone should promote one’s culture and traditions, especially the young generation, and that this festival is a platform to showcase rich Naga heritage.

Zeliang said the Government of Nagaland is encouraging every tribe to celebrate Mini Hornbill Festival to promote the distinct cultures and traditions. Celebration of Hornbill Festival in Nagaland promotes brotherhood among Nagas and it is an international event of fusion of tradition and modernity, he said. He also stated that Tuensang being a historical district must uphold the rich heritage and culture.
He also stated that two-laning of Mokokchung-Tuensang road is in the process and exhorted that tribal Hohos and village councils should come together for any land and property compensation issues for a successful project.
Short speeches were delivered by Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang and the Host of the Festival, Lima Onen Chang MLA. The program was followed by walk to Khongdang, Naga Go- Karting race, log drum pulling, folk fusion from Ngangpong Village and Poanglüm Marathon. The Festival was marked by ‘Say No to Drugs Campaign’ by CBLT and ‘Plastic Minimalist’ by TTC.
