Tuensang to host Dr T Ao Trophy in September 2024 | DPDB Tuensang discusses key issues

The Dr T Ao Trophy is set to take place in Tuensang from 16 to 27 September 2024. This was discussed during the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) Tuensang’s monthly meeting today, 12 July.

MLA and General Secretary of the Nagaland Football Association, Benei Lamthiu, emphasized the importance of sports as a career and highlighted government initiatives to promote youth involvement in sports. He encouraged the board to use this event to showcase the cultural richness and beauty of Tuensang.

The board also discussed the issue of the sinking zone at Phenjang Colony. Nodal Officer of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Temsuwangshi Jamir, reported that over 200 households had been affected in the verified area. He noted that current funds from the NSDMA were insufficient to address the needs of the sinking zone. Jamir indicated that the issue would be escalated to higher authorities, with a ground report from a central team during an upcoming meeting in Kohima.

Several approvals and recommendations were made during the meeting. These included the society registration of Thimlak Farming Society (C-khel), the upgrade of the SDIO office to an APRO office in Noksen, the recognition of Trumzong Village under EAC Chare, and the construction of new circular roads from St. John-B via Anyangngebou Colony to Nyaklangbou to Hakusangb ward, and from PWD Rest House St. John-B via Sipong Colony and Kamchu Colony.

The board also approved the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) for 2024-2025 and the Iconic Scheme for the 51 Noksen A/C, 52 Longkhim-Chare A/C, 53 Tuensang Sadar I A/C, and 54 Tuensang Sadar II A/C.

The meeting welcomed Er Thongpang Chongshen, EE PWD (R&B), as a new member of the Tuensang DPDB.
