Mokokchung, October 19 (MTNews): The Joint Action Committee (Workers Union & Pensioners Union) Nagaland Pulp and Paper Corporation Limited (NPPCL) has said that they have been compelled to decide on further course of action as the state government has failed to respond positively to their demands despite the nearing end of the agreed stipulated time of three months.
“After thorough deliberation and consideration over the circumstances that have taken place over the last few months, the Joint Action Committee (Workers Union & Pensioners Union) NPPCL has made the decision to hold a General Meeting with all its members on November 9, 2022 at Main Gate Complex NPPCL. Tzüdikong Town,” the JAC stated in a press release received here.
According to the press release appended by Kika Lenda, President JAC and K. Imlitemjen Jami, Secretary JAC, all the employees of NPPCL (Retired and existing), those who are deprived and aggrieved, residing within and outside of Nagaland have been “requested and informed” to reach the station (NPPCL) Tzüdikong Town on or before November 8, 2022.
The JAC recalled that on August 11, 2022 a meeting was held in the Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall under the Chairmanship of Shashank Pratap Singh IAS, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung where the Department of Industries & Commerce GON was represented by Commissioner & Secretary, Director, Additional Director, Asstt. Director (Nodal) and District Level Departmental Officials, Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, SDO (Civil), Ao Senden Officials, Langpangkong Tzükong Mungdang Officials, Vice Chairman Tzüdikong Ad-hoc Town Committee, to discuss and resolve the proposed bandh/blocked called by the JAC, which was to be carried out on August 12, 2022.
“As the government had promised to take all possible steps to resolve the issue and requested the JAC to postpone the agitation, a time period of three months was agreed upon by the JAC as requested by them, with the assurance of fulfilling the rightful claims and demands of the JAC,” the press release stated.
However, as the stipulated time period is “nearing its end without any positive signs from the State Government,” the JAC said that they are “compelled to make this decision to decide on further course of action.”
