The Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN) has appealed to communities in Manipur to pursue dialogue, mutual respect and reconciliation to restore peace and ensure peaceful coexistence.
In an appeal issued on October 22, TUN president KT Vilie and general secretary Khriehużo Lohe Lohe said peace was the foundation of harmonious societies and unity the strength of the people. They expressed hope and prayed that peace, understanding and reconciliation would prevail among the various communities in Manipur.
The union stated that violence and conflict brought only suffering, loss of precious lives and hardship, and urged all concerned to move towards dialogue, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.
TUN appealed to community leaders, elders, civil society organisations, youth and all right-thinking citizens to work together to restore peace and build mutual understanding. It stressed that every human life was precious and every community deserved dignity, security and respect.
Calling for brotherhood to overcome bitterness and dialogue to replace violence, the union expressed hope that lasting peace would return to Manipur for the sake of present and future generations.
“Let peace prevail, let humanity triumph. Let Manipur live in peace,” the appeal stated.
