Two bands from Mokokchung are all set to compete in the upcoming ‘Battle of the Bands’ contest. The event, which is exclusively for college and higher secondary students, will witness Stereo Groove from Clark Theological College and Front Fern from Queen Mary Hr. Sec. School, Mokokchung among the 16 bands selected for the Live Round of the competition.
Organized by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, in association with Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), these bands will battle it out in the Live Round on 9 September at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, starting from 9:30 AM onwards. The finals will take place at 4:00 PM on the same day.
The other 14 bands selected for the Live Round are: Wangngai Band (Wangkhao Government College, Mon); The Apprentices (Bautung Govt. Hr. Sec School, Longleng); The Young Prodigies (St John Hr Sec School, Tuensang); Silver Bullet (Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire); Xaverite Band (St. Xavier College, Peren); Call of Sublime (Tetso College, Dimapur); Euphonic (Patkai Christian College, Chumoukedima); The Hope Maverick (Hope Academy, Chumoukedima); D’escape (G. Rio School Kohima); Rhythmic Band (St. Joseph’s College Jakhama, Kohima); DPSD (DPS School, Dimapur); The Cassiopeia (Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur); The Orphic Band (Baptist College, Kohima); and Rustic Harmony (Baptist Hr. Sec. School, Tseminyu).
The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, while the 2nd and 3rd place bands will be awarded Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively. Additionally, there will be five consolation prizes of Rs. 10,000 each. The event is curated by TaFMA, organized by the Youth Resources & Sports Department, with Sky Entertainment and Hornbill TV serving as the Ground partner and media partner respectively.
