Following the directive of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), a two-day campaign to prevent and combat child trafficking in 200 bordering and adjoining districts was launched on February 26, 2026. The launching program was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Mokokchung.

The campaign was launched by Ajay Moktan, IAS, Assistant Commissioner. The programme was organised by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Mokokchung, in collaboration with the District Administration, with the aim of raising awareness on child trafficking and empowering communities to prevent and combat the issue.

Samuel Kapu, District Child Protection Officer, Mokokchung, welcomed the participants and delivered the introductory note. Imnatola, Supervisor, DCPU–Child Helpline, served as the keynote speaker during the two-day campaign.

Following the launch, programmes were also held at the Superintendent of Police Office and the CDPO (North) Office. Addressing the gatherings, Imnatola highlighted the importance of collective efforts to combat child trafficking. “We need to work together to protect our children from exploitation and ensure their safety and well-being,” she said. She further added, “We must be vigilant and aware that Nagaland is not immune to trafficking, which can often appear in situations that look normal.”
