A two-day workshop on the “World of Work (WoW)” for students from four PM SHRI schools of Nagaland commenced today at Kuda Youth Hall, Dimapur. The programme is organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, through PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), NCERT, New Delhi, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Nagaland and SCERT Nagaland.

The initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, particularly in promoting skill development, vocational exposure, and experiential learning among secondary school students. It aims to prepare learners for the evolving landscape of the 21st-century workplace by bridging classroom learning with real-world applications.

Students from PM SHRI GHSS Chumukedima, PM SHRI GHS Naharbari, PM SHRI GHS Burma Camp, and PM SHRI GHS Thahekhu are participating in the workshop. The programme seeks to introduce students to diverse career pathways, including the 36 job sectors mapped by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, green technologies, and creative industries.

The inaugural session was chaired by Freda Angami, Assistant District Coordinator, District Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha, Dimapur. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Chumbeni Kikon, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, emphasized the importance of early vocational orientation and 21st-century skill-building. She highlighted that initiatives like WoW help students move beyond traditional academics and make informed choices about their future careers.

A special video message was shared by Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, Head and CEO, PARAKH, NCERT, New Delhi, who stressed the importance of integrating skill-based learning, vocational education, and experiential assessments into regular schooling. She encouraged teachers and school leaders to provide opportunities for hands-on learning, internships, and project-based experiences to enhance employability.

Officials from Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, the Department of School Education (DoSE), SCERT, NBSE, and heads of the participating PM SHRI schools attended the session. The workshop features interactive sessions and practical activities facilitated by Elangbam Ashakiran Chanu and Kavita Ghosh, focusing on career awareness, teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving skills.

The workshop will conclude on October 17, 2025, with student reflections, presentations, and a panel discussion on shaping the future of work-ready education in schools. The event reinforces a shared national vision to prepare learners for life, livelihood, and lifelong learning in a rapidly changing world.
