Tzudikong, 8 August (MTNews): Persistent erosion exacerbated by incessant rainfall has severely damaged a section of the road carriageway along the 230/900 km stretch of NH-2 in Tzudikong Town, Mokokchung. The ongoing erosion has also resulted in a reduction in road width, posing a potential threat to public safety.

In response to the alarming reports received from the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of PWD NH Div-II Tuli, on 8 August, 2023, a joint verification was promptly conducted.

Upon verification, it was revealed that the damage caused is ‘severe’ in nature and if not attended earlier, it is likely to cause major disaster including life-threatening incidents.

Recognizing the imminent danger posed by the deteriorating road condition, the Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tuli, through an order issued on 8 August 2023, has mandated immediate restriction on the movement of heavily loaded trucks on the affected road stretch until the necessary restoration work is completed.
