As Christians around the world marked the victory of Jesus Christ over death and the hope of new life, members of United Baptist Church Toulazouma (UBCT) in Nagaland gathered at dawn to celebrate their risen Saviour. Stepping beyond the church walls, they took their faith into the streets, sharing a message of hope, victory and new life.

The sunrise service marked a significant moment as believers filled the streets with hymns, guitars, drums and joyful voices. Pastor UBCT, Abeni Lotha, emphasised that the true meaning of Resurrection Sunday lies in personal transformation rather than mere observance. “The question we must ask ourselves is whether we are truly living a victorious life,” she said, urging believers to reflect on Christ’s resurrection and live transformed lives.

Youth Director Obed Tep Rengma described the procession as both a celebration and a proclamation of faith. He said the resurrection transformed despair into hope and encouraged believers to lay down their burdens at the cross. Quoting Matthew 11:28, he added, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Church leaders said the walk was an expression of gratitude and joy, affirming that hope is alive and death is not the end. Members described the event as a meaningful public witness of faith and unity.

The sunrise service, observed by Christian communities worldwide, symbolises the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal life.
