Dimapur, 15 July (MTNews): In response to a threatening statement made by the self-proclaimed Nagaland Transparency, Public Rights Advocacy & Direct Action Org. (NTPRADAO), an unregistered organization, Dimapur police have taken action by arresting five individuals. The statement, circulated on various social media platforms earlier on 29 June threatened to storm and attack the official quarters of all 60 legislators in Nagaland and burn them down if the 14th NLA passed a bill in support of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
The arrested individuals include Michael Tungoe, President of NTPRADAO; Ikato Zhimomi, General Secretary of Public Policy; Albert Kire, General Secretary; Temjen Mar Ao, State Executive Member; and Hayithung T Lotha, Chief Advisor. They have been charged with criminal intimidation, conspiracy to commit a crime against the honorable legislators, and threatening to destroy government properties with the intent to provoke a breach of peace.
According to an update from DCP (Crime) & PRO, Dimapur Police, the Dimapur Police initiated a thorough investigation into the matter, and after gathering evidence, arrested the aforementioned individuals. The PRO Dimapur also mentioned that a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur, and further investigation is underway to uncover the motives behind this act and identify all those involved in the crime.
