The UEFA Champions League 2024-25 season is set to introduce a new format as the group stage draw takes place on Thursday, August 29. Unlike the previous 32-team setup, this season will feature 36 teams, with AI-driven software determining the draw. The new format shifts from the traditional group stage to a single league phase, where all teams compete in eight league-stage games against different opponents (four home and four away).
The top eight teams will automatically advance to the knockout stages, while teams ranked 9th to 24th will enter a two-legged play-off to secure a spot in the last 16. Those finishing 25th to 36th will be eliminated from all competitions.
The draw, held in Monaco, will begin at 5:00 PM UK time (9:30 PM IST) and is expected to last around 35 minutes. Fans can expect the finalised fixture list on Saturday, August 31.
The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League finalwill take place in Munich at the Allianz Arena on May 31, 2025.
