As per the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), there is no age limit for Aadhaar enrollment, meaning even newborns can be registered. For children in the 0-5 years age group, Aadhaar enrollment requires only the parent’s Aadhaar number and the child’s birth certificate. Enrollment must be done in person at an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, such as those located at District Collector Offices (DC), Assistant District Collector Offices (ADC), Sub-Divisional Officer (C) Offices (SDO (C)), Post Offices, or Banks. During the enrollment process for children under 5, only a photograph is captured, with no biometric data such as fingerprints or iris scans collected.

Once a child reaches the age of 5, and again at 15, mandatory biometric updates are required to maintain Aadhaar validity. These updates, which include capturing a photograph, fingerprints, and iris data, are free of charge if done between the ages of 5-7 and 15-17. The updates can be completed at any Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and do not require additional documentation.

Additionally, school children are encouraged to link their mobile numbers to their Aadhaar accounts to facilitate various online services, including registration for exams like NEET and CUET.

Updating the mobile number linked to Aadhaar can be done at an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre without the need for supporting documents.
