The State Election Commission of Nagaland has notified all political parties and candidates regarding the ULB elections in 2024 that, according to Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, no person shall convene, hold, attend, join, or address any public meeting or procession in connection with the election in any polling area during the 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of the poll.

No one shall display any election matter to the public by means of cinematography, television, or other similar apparatus. Additionally, no person shall propagate any election matter to the public by holding or arranging any musical concert, theatrical performance, or any other entertainment or amusement with the view of attracting members of the public in any polling area during the 48-hour period ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of the poll.

Furthermore, any person who contravenes these provisions shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term that may extend to two years, or with a fine, or with both.
