The 2nd edition of the Intra Village Volleyball Tournament, organized by Mesempong Soyim, was held successfully. It was held on 4 and 5 July 2024 at Lenyong Sector Volleyball Court in Ungma. Mesempong Soyim, established in 2023, is a collective of passionate individuals united by a common goal: to foster and promote the love of volleyball within Ungma Village.
The tournament was exclusively for residents of Ungma Village where nine teams participated in the two-day event.
Chubangangshi, Tatar of the Ungma Village Council, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the shifting dynamics in the global sports sector, urging the community not to fall behind but to achieve excellence with relentless practice and dedication. He encouraged participants to play not just for participation but with the aspiration of representing the state and nation on larger platforms one day.
The finale witnessed an intense match between the reigning champions, United Soyim Club, and the Evergreen Club. The match extended to a nail-biting tiebreaker set, with scores reflecting the fierce competition: 22-25, 25-14, 25-16, 27-29, and 15-10. In the end, United Soyim Club retained their title, solidifying their dominance in the tournament’s history.
This edition of the Intra Village Volleyball Tournament not only highlighted the exceptional talent within Ungma Village but also reinforced the community’s commitment to nurturing and celebrating the sport of volleyball.
