Ms Cano emphasized the increased hostility toward self-determination claims and the erosion of human rights, making UNPO’s advocacy work harder and more significant. She celebrated the 30th anniversary of Nagas’ membership in the UNPO and lauded their unwavering dedication to self-determination.

She reiterated UNPO’s support for a peaceful and honorable resolution of the Indo-Naga issue and appealed to the international community and the Indian Government to fulfill commitments in the Framework Agreement on the Indo-Naga issue. She also urged the repeal of acts such as the Armed Force Special Power Act, stressing that peace can only be attained when the Right to Self Determination is respected.

Ms Cano concluded her speech by thanking all attendees and reaffirming UNPO’s commitment to standing with unrepresented nations, amplifying their voices, and ensuring that aspirations for freedom, justice, and self-determination are heard and acted upon, the release said.

The Unrepresented Nations People’s Organization (UNPO) is an international organization dedicated to the promotion of the right to self-determination, representing unrepresented and marginalized nations and peoples worldwide.
