Kohima, 18 August (MTNews): The Urban Development Department has announced the commencement of a three-month-long PM SVANidhi Campaign. As per a directive from the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, this campaign is set to kick off from 1 August and continue until 31October 2023. The primary goal of this initiative is to create awareness among street vendors about the benefits of the PM SVANidhi scheme.

The campaign will operate at both the state level and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the country. It will be orchestrated through a series of comprehensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities.

These activities encompass a spectrum of mediums including radio broadcasts, television advertisements, regular social media posts, and other on-ground outreach initiatives. By leveraging these mediums, the intention is to connect a larger number of street vendors with the PM SVANidhi Scheme and thereby enhance their livelihood opportunities.

The Urban Development Department has outlined a range of activities aimed at revitalizing the scheme at both the state and city levels:

· Create awareness among the street vendors (SVs) regarding the benefits of the scheme through various IEC activities such as radio, TV, regular social media posts, and other ground-level outreach activities in the states/cities to connect more SVs with the scheme.

· Organize SVANidhi Mahotsav/Parivar Mela and other celebrations in select cities, bringing street vendors into the mainstream and fostering a sense of belongingness among them. Banks and Digital Payment Aggregators (DPAs) may also be invited to these celebrations, and street vendors conducting 100% digital transactions may be felicitated. The success stories of street vendors who have benefited under the scheme may be shared with other street vendors to motivate them to join the scheme.

· Organize various camps at the state/UT/city level in coordination with the banks and DPAs to mobilize new applications, clear pending sanctions & disbursements of loans, and promote the adoption of digital transactions among SVs.

· Create a roadmap for achieving the targets and conduct regular review meetings at the senior level to achieve the revised target by December 2023.
