The United States of America and Germany are the ‘Country Partners’ of the Hornbill Festival 2023 which will be held from 1-10 December 2023 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, Kohima.

Colombia meanwhile is the ‘Country Partner’ for the Hornbill Music Festival. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio announced this on Thursday in a series of posts on X (Twitter).

Welcoming the US as the Country Partner of the Hornbill Festival 2023, Rio stated, “We are looking forward to hosting an American Music band and participation of the USA in a number of events at the Festival of Festivals.”

“We have always had a positive relationship with the Americans,” he said, while expressing hope that through this partnership, “the two countries will come closer together for “mutual benefit and enhanced collaborations.”

Announcing Germany as a Country Partner, the Nagaland CM informed that the German rock band- ELM Tree will participate in the Hornbill Music Festival, while the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata, will screen well- known German film productions at the Hornbill Film Festival.

According to Rio, Nagaland will host a German business delegation for a roundtable with the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN). He also hoped that “this partnership will strengthen collaboration between the two countries as we look forward to greater bilateral ties and increased people-to-people contact.”

Welcoming Colombia as the Country Partner of the Hornbill Music Festival 2023, Rio said performers and cultural ambassadors from the South American country will feature in the Hornbill Music Festival.

“This partnership will add more value and diversity to the Festival of Festivals and we look forward to greater collaboration between the two countries,” Rio added.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Colombia to India responded to Rio on X. “It is an honor for us to participate for the second time as a country partner of the extraordinary Hornbill Festival 2023. We look forward to share some of our cultural heritage and Colombian musical traditions with the beautiful people of Nagaland,” it said.

The German Consulate also responded to Rio on X. It thanked the chief minister for welcoming them to the Hornbill Festival. “We are super excited to be part of this journey,” it added.
