USLP hosts public thanksgiving in Kiphire following FNTA agreement

United Sangtam Likhum Pümji (USLP) on Monday held a public thanksgiving programme at the Public Ground in Kiphire to mark the signing of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority agreement.


People from various villages under Sangtam jurisdiction attended the programme. Representatives of civil organisations, church leaders and members of the public gathered to offer thanksgiving for the agreement.

Addressing the gathering, R. Tsapikyü Sangtam, former president of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation, appreciated the people, civil bodies and churches for their prayers and support. He also thanked the Government of India and the state government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. He urged the people of ENPO to remain united and work collectively for the development of the region without corruption or prejudice.

K Asüngba Sangtam and K Aliba Sangtam also encouraged the people to work for the betterment of ENPO and Naga society.

The programme was chaired by Island Peace Yangthsaba. The invocation prayer was offered by Chopongkyu, pastor of KTBL, while Selongba Sangtam delivered the welcome address. A folk song was presented by the Kiphire Area Mothers’ Union.

A special prayer of thanksgiving was led by Rev. Imtiba Sangtam of USBLA, followed by a special song by Leochum V Thonger. Special speeches on the FNTA talks were delivered by K Asüngba Sangtam, R Tsapikyü Sangtam and K Aliba Sangtam.

Short speeches were also delivered by leaders of various organisations and former public representatives. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Kipitong Sangtam and the benediction by Litho Sangtam of the USBLA Sub-Centre, Kiphire.
