The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has extended its heartfelt appreciation to the Sangtam Literature Board for organizing the Mother Tongue Awareness Campaign of Sangtam Literature under the theme “The Importance of Mother Tongue.”
The campaign was held on April 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM in two locations—Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire, and Yangli Mission Centre of United Sangtam Baptist Lithroti Ashimükhung under Tuensang District. The event focused on encouraging the use, preservation, and promotion of the Sangtam language and literature among students and communities.
During the programme, the USSC announced its plan to implement Nagaland Heritage Studies (Sangtam) in all Sangtam areas. The union appealed to School Management Committees (SMCs), School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs), and other stakeholders to cooperate in introducing mother tongue education in their respective institutions.

USSC President Adekhing I Sangtam appreciated the efforts made by several schools under Kiphire District that have already implemented Nagaland Heritage Studies (Sangtam). Among them, he highlighted Government High School Seyochung Village for its unique initiative of involving the Youth Pastor of Seyochung Village Baptist Lithro as a teacher for the subject. He encouraged other schools to take inspiration from such community-driven practices.
He further noted that several schools under Longkhim-Chare area of Tuensang District have also successfully adopted the subject, reflecting a growing awareness and commitment toward cultural preservation.
The USSC also raised concern over the limited distribution of Nagaland Heritage books and urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action to ensure timely and adequate supply to all schools across Sangtam regions.
