The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has extended its “fullest support” to the legitimate demand of the Nagaland RMSA Teachers Association (2016 batch) while expressing “deep concern” over the state government’s failure to uphold the High Court order dated March 16, 2022.

In a statement, the USSC said, “Those teachers, who were selected through a transparent and open recruitment process, deserve fair and equal treatment just like their counterparts from other batches. As educators and pillars of our society they deserve the dignity of their timely and just remuneration for their dedicated service, especially as many are posted in remote and challenging areas.”

The Conference criticized the Department of School Education and the state government, stating they “must not continue to display an apathetic attitude towards the genuine demands of these teachers who are shaping the lives and future of countless students.”

According to the USSC, “ignoring a court ruling directive not only undermines the rule of law but also demoralizes those entrusted with nation building through education.”

Reiterating its commitment, the body stated, “As a representative body committed to the welfare and future of students, the conference will not remain silent if the rightful concerns of teachers are ignored. Any disregard for their legitimate demands affects the quality of education and compromises the future of our students. The USSC shall not tolerate any such action and stands ready to resort to any measures that threaten and put the future of our students at stake.”

The Conference “strongly urges the Government to act swiftly, justly, and responsibly by ensuring that an amicable and permanent solution is meted out in resolving this issue.”
