The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has extended heartfelt gratitude to government officials, law enforcement, student bodies, and citizens for their timely intervention following an incident involving student S Liseri Sangtam at Assam Kaziranga University on September 20, 2025.
In a statement, the USSC thanked Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism and Higher Education, Nagaland, and Benjamin Yepthomi, State BJP President, Nagaland, for their leadership and unwavering support.
Appreciation was also conveyed to the Vice Chancellor of Assam Kaziranga University, the Director General of Police Nagaland, the Deputy Commissioners of Kiphire and Mokokchung, the Superintendents of Police of Mokokchung, Kiphire, and Jorhat, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Mangkolemba, and the administrators from Tuli for their professional handling of the situation.

Student organizations, including the Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF), the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), and the Naga Students’ Union Jorhat (NSUJ), along with the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Naga student leaders, hostel authorities, and university students were also acknowledged for their efforts in bringing the situation under control.
The USSC particularly highlighted the Government of Nagaland’s support, noting the deployment of eight buses accompanied by 7-8 security escorts, and the presence of the Superintendent of Police, ASI, Sub-Magistrate, and 8-9 armed convoys, which ensured the safe and peaceful return of students.
The organization assured that it has taken serious note of the incident and pledged to implement stricter internal guidelines and awareness programs to promote discipline, mutual respect, and responsibility among its members.
At the same time, the USSC expressed concern over the unauthorized recording and circulation of a video of the incident on social media, which it said aggravated the situation and violated the privacy and dignity of those involved. Citizens were urged to refrain from such actions in the future.
Concluding the statement, the USSC appealed for peace, unity, and harmony, noting that the collective efforts of all involved not only de-escalated a challenging situation but also strengthened bonds of brotherhood and mutual respect within the community.
